Come join us for a ride through the beautiful North Georgia mountains -- and help support the good work of our local therapeutic riding program. Our capping fee is only $10 per rider: all proceeds will benefit the Angels on Horseback therapeutic riding program. The hunt is open to students and boarders at HorseSense Riding Academy and to students and volunteers at Angels on Horseback -- and to all their friends and families!
Three flights to accommodate all riding levels!
MOCK HUNT FIRST FLIGHT:
For riders and mounts fit and experienced enough for approximately 2 hours of cross-country, including steep hills and galloping. Attire may be formal or informal, but proper hunt etiquette must be observed. Riders for this flight should be mounted by 9:30 AM; “hounds” will be cast at 10:00 AM.
MOCK HUNT SECOND FLIGHT:
A gentle walk-trot trail ride for experienced riders (Yellow Level and up for our students) and families. Riders should be mounted and ready to ride by 10:15 AM; if needed, we will send out a second group for this flight at 11:30 AM.
PONY RIDE FLIGHT:
Guided rides in the round pen for young or first-time riders aged 4 and up. We will provide ponies and helmets. Time in the saddle will depend upon the number of young riders we have in this division. Pony rides will run from 11:00AM to 12:30PM.
GENERAL INFO FOR ALL FLIGHTS:
There is a $10 capping fee per rider. Checks should be payable to “Angels on Horseback”; cash is fine, too. Riders under the age of 18 must wear helmets and boots. Otherwise, attire may be formal or casual; both English and Western tack is acceptable. Bring your negative Coggins. Llama Alert: unprepared mounts may not appreciate the farm’s llamas (ask us how we know this!), so please bring easy-going horses.
Then join us for a potluck Hunt Brunch!
Bring a dish to share, and beverages and folding chairs for your
family. Family members who don’t wish to ride should arrive by
noon to help set up brunch, which should happen around 12:30 PM if we’re
very, very good.
*And just in case you wondered: In a mock hunt, we don’t chase real foxes or hounds -- we chase riders playing those roles (with “ears” and “tails”)!
